A quiet Thanksgiving

I was told recently that I needed to update my blog more often (Gail). So I hope this update meets those requirements. Plus I changed to look of the blog again, I thought I would make it more Christmasy. If you know me, you know I can be kind of Scroogy, so this is my attempt to "get in the spirit". Don't say I didn't try.

We had a quiet Thanksgiving at home this year. Hope's 1st American Thanksgiving, I know there is a "thanksgiving" in Korea but it is very different. Hope enjoyed having everybody home and watching the parade. However she was none too happy that Mama could not give her my full attention with all the cooking I was doing.

This was really the first time we had ever not gone somewhere or had family over. And all though I don't want to continue this as a tradition, I was surprised that it was not the worst thing in the world either. The kids really wanted to (and did) help. On Wed. we made dessert for Thanksgiving, all together, with each of them pouring and measuring, and getting to lick a spoon at the end. And all day yesterday asked what they could do to help. They emptied the dishwasher twice, set the table, peeled a potato, made butter, and got drinks for everyone. Then afterward they even helped clean up , no joke. Aaaand they said Thank You. I was amazed. After dinner they both wrote down what they were thankful for, nothing out of the ordinary, but sweet nonetheless.

We really do have some great kids and the more I spend time with them the more I see it. Maybe that is why we decided to home school. But more on that later. Hey, I gotta leave you wanting more. ;-)
