Well we decided to stay one more day at Disney (we always do that..I should know better by now). So we got home about 1am Sun. morning. Yesterday was kind of a blurr, there is still tons of stuff in the van to be unloaded, I do not feel like we have really unpacked at all. We did get some grocery shopping done and some recuperation.
So, the lowdown on our trip. First the bad news....I lost my camera (yep $500 gone) the first morning...I took one picture. Will was sick on Tues., like really sick, no fever, but no parks either, so we took a rest day. And it rained on Thurs. Ok, that's it for the bad news, on to the good news.
We had a great time. Hope was a trooper. She had, I think less than, the normal 19month old screaming fits. She looved to ride rides although she was not too sure about the characters yet. By the end she was willing to give them "five".
The only thing we will do differently in the future is more planning. In the past I have had a much more detailed itinerary and we have been more comfortable with that. The making decisions in the heat of the moment thing just stresses us out.
For the most part the weather was great (65-75). The crowds were more than I expected or prefer, but not unbearable. Overall a good trip! (except for that camera thing..that still stings)
So homeschooling...I love it! DH and I feel like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. I mean I knew that public school came with stress, but I had no idea the relief we would feel when we started homeschooling. It felt like I was trying to cram soo much into the few hours after school and before bed with , cleaning rooms (basic household chores), homework, family time, dinner, any extracurricular thing(basketball or choir etc), letting the kids have some down time, it was just not working for us. This is working for us. The kids have plenty of time for all that stuff, and home school work. Plus there are no "projects or reports" unless we feel up to it as a family, and then they can be done together ...as a family.
Ok, I have to admit the kids are starting to get a little bored. But I think I can fix that. We started really slow to try to figure out a schedule that will work for us (still working on that) but now I think we are ready to add more subjects. I am going to try a "unit study" approach. Basically , history, science, reading, writing, and bible, are all going to be centered on the same topic (Light is our first one). And it will all be teachable to both grade levels, so we will all be working together.
Between going to Disney and starting our new curriculum I think boredom will be a thing of the past.

Great to hear your trip went well, except for your camera :( Sounds like you have a great start on Homeschooling. Getting started was the hardest for me. Awesome to hear that it's going well and that you love it. I do too, it has so many advantages and I see the blessings in my kids each day!
God Bless,
Jayme
