Sometime last week I decided to pack up the kids and visit my sister and her family in MI. Ray was heading out of town for work and he would be gone for Hope's first "homecoming day" and Brooke's birthday. The kids and I had a bit of "cabin fever" so I thought it would be fun to celebrate these 2 special days with my mom and my sis.
So I drove up this past Fri. (only took 12 hours..which I am quite proud of thank you very much). Sat. we went out to dinner at a Korean restaurant near my mom's house. It was great! The food was wonderful. Everyone had a good time and even my ultra picky eater of a son tried things and had a good attitude. I know this sounds weird but, it felt really good to refill Hope with Korea, food, smells, faces. Strange I know. It was a wonderful way to celebrate having Hope in our family. And we are all looking forward to going back, next time we come up.
On Sunday our trip took a bit of a twist. We all went to church. Of course I was in and out of the service with Hope. Finally as the service was coming to and end, the boys headed out to walk the halls with Hope for few minutes. Then my sister turns to me and says "I am NOT okay". She and I head out to the restroom. She is having arm and chest pain, nausea, light headedness...all things that sound very much like a heart attack. We call 911 and end up in the emergency room. By the time she gets to the hospital she is feeling fine, but the tests indicate that there maybe some heart damage so they decide to keep her over night and do an anagram in the morning. Luckily they did not find any blockages..it appears this happened because of some kinked veins. But truthfully we don't know as much as we would like to at this point. And getting her out of the hospital (when they were completely done with her...no IV, fully dressed..no orders for her whatsoever) well that story is probably a whole post in and of it's own. So officially she had a "Minor Cardiac Event" , however for our family it did not feel very minor.
Now that she is home, she is less and less sore from her anagram and things are returning to normal. If I could only get her to call the cardiologist for her follow up appointment, then I would be happy.
