Just one more..real quick post

Ok , I know I said I would not post until July, but I just had to get this off my chest and know that I am doing all I can to stop this moive.

The movie I am referring to is called "Orphan" you can see a trailer here. http://orphan-movie.warnerbros.com It is a horror movie about a family that adopts a child and then she ends up going crazy. The problems is it plays into the stereotypes of adopted children, particularly older children, as damaged. There are already so many children that need families, the last thing they need is to have a movie come out that may put thoughts of an adoptive family being killed by any child into people's heads. I see this movie as an attack against children finding families. This is not entertainment...it is an assult against the good that can come from the love of a family.

And below the letter is contact info for the companies producing this movie. Please join me in the fight against this movie. Maybe if we all do a little it will make a big impact.


To whom it may concern:I want to express my outrage about the release of the movie Orphan. The film plays into the stereotype of adopted children as damaged and dangerous. It discourages families from pursuing adoption, particularly adoption of older children, who are especially in need of loving homes. As an adoptive parent, I am horrified by the line in the trailer that "it must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own." Adoption has often been misrepresented in the media, but the previews for this film are unbelievably offensive. I urge you to change the promotional materials, and to consider holding the release of the film altogether.
