Summer update

Well I thought I would post an update before the fall gets going and things get busier than they already are.

Our trip to MI was good, short but good. Brooke loved her trip. She had a blast with my sister doing American Girl and other girly stuff...loved being pampered by my mom..and traveling to Uncle Scot's in San Francisco made her feel like she had finally "grown up". She did not get to do as much Art Camp because of a little tummy/throat bug she caught during all of her gallivanting, but she still had a great time.

Then when she came home she was ready to tackle swim team..and did great considering she had hardly any practice and could only do 2 meets. Both kids loved swim teem soo much that we are going to sign them up for the year-round club that we have here in the area. And that is going to be the only sport either of them do for the whole fall and spring. The best part is they will be doing it at the same time , same place, the days that work best for us...so we could even keep the same weekly schedule for the next 8 months if we want too. I am not sure who is more excited...yes I am...it's me!

Since Brooke came home our summer has been pretty laid back..pool, wash clothes, set up water slide, have cookout for Hope's birthday, pool, wash clothes, kids play outside with friends, eat Popsicles, wash clothes, set up slide...catch my drift. Lazy summer days. Very nice.

But now it is time to pump up the planning for fall. If you have noticed our nifty little vacation countdown at the bottom of the blog..it is counting down the days until our Disney Cruise. So I am in full prep and planning mode for that. We are doing a 4 night cruise, driving down the night before, and then heading to Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas for 3 nights after the cruise. OOH don't you worry...I know it is during school time , so we are going to sneak a "field trip" in to Kenndy Space Center the day we get off the cruise so we can get some school'n in too. Can not wait!

And of course actual school starts at the beginning of Sept too...I have not picked a day yet...ahhh the beauty of homeschooling. But I am in prep and plan mode for that too, buying school supplies, going through our new curriculum, gathering supplies for all of the "hands-on" activities..and organizing. I am looking forward to getting back into a routine when school get underway.

So all in all, we have had/are having a great summer and are looking forward to a great fall...packed with a vacation, great family time, lots of swimming, and some fun learning too.
