We close on the new house on Monday, at 2pm to be exact. There were times the last 8 months that I wondered if it would really happen. There were even times I thought for sure it would never happen. But I am grateful to be able to see this come to a happy ending. Moving in Labor Day weekend is not my idea of great timing, since the kids will start school the following Tuesday, but we will just deal with it.
I am also happy to report that we have made it through August with no where near the difficulty I anticipated. But our ability to get through this last month is due in great part to our friends in VA. We went down for a planned vacation the last week in July and ended up kind of staying. Well not really all of us. We stayed the last week in July, then Ray,Will, Hope and I came back to MI, leaving Brooke with Nana and friends. We were here in MI that first week of August so Will and Hope could go to camps they were already signed up for. Then the kids and I headed back to VA for another 2 weeks!! Spending time with our very hospitable friends, and reconnecting with other friends and neighbors was a great way to pass the last month. And really just NOT being here in this one bath , 2 bedroom "bungalow" was wonderful.
Speaking of this comfy, free, abode..I think the time we have spent here has prepared us to truly appreciate our new, beautiful, 4 bedroom, 3 bath house. Below is a list of things I am looking forward to in the new house.
-Not seeing my girls do the potty dance every time they need to use the one bathroom while it is occupied.
-When I yell "Go to your rooms!" everyone will be going to a different room.
-My husband and I will have an actually bedroom to ourselves, instead of sleeping on a mattress in the living room.
-I will never see loading and unloading the dishwasher as the chore I once did. I am now fully aware of how much worse it is to do dishes by hand.
I know there are many more things that I will notice and appreciate once we actually move in. And really I just can not wait to move in. Well I could do without the actual moving and unpacking, but you have to do that in order to get to the feeling at home part. And that is what I really want, to feel "at home" again.
