Summer is in full swing for our family. We had a great Father's Day weekend in Chicago, which included a Yankee game (ok the Cubs were there too), a trip to American Girl, a day at the Lincoln Park Zoo, and a side trip to a worship service at Willow Creek Community Church. Hope has completed a 2 week swimming course, which she could pass if she would put her face in the water :/. Will has started his trumpet and racquetball lessons. And Brooke has just started her 2 week drama camp that will conclude with an all female production of "The Jungle Book". Things are hopping around here.
The house is coming along. We are looking towards a completion date around the middle of August. We are now just hoping that we can actually move in as soon as it is finished. Things with our renters in VA have taken a dramatic turn for the worse. It concerned us a bit from the beginning that they did not seem like a good fit for the neighborhood (which is very family oriented, and our renters are really just a bunch of adults trying to start a restaurant in the area) and as some time has passed it has become clear they are not fitting in...but now they have missed the June payment. That is not gonna fly. So now we go to court...Yeahhhh, not. ;( Hopefully they will be moving out around the middle of July. Soooo, if you know a family that would like to live in a great neighborhood in Mechanicsville, VA and want to get in before school starts...please let me know (I am not kidding).
Although we are thankful to be able to live at my Grandma's, I think this house is preparing us to be grateful for our new home. The hard water here is taking it's toll on our skin, hair and clothes. The ants are teaching us how to keep all garbage and yummy things tucked away safe and sound. The leaking faucet in the kitchen is just plain annoying. And sharing 1 bathroom is teaching us all that modesty is a luxury not necessarily a right.
So I come to you asking for prayers again. Prayers for renters that pay the rent and that are meant to be in our VA house in our family neighborhood....soon. And prayers that we can learn all of the lessons that our time here in my Grandma's house is teaching us.
